WOODCircle is coming to an end! The Final Event was held on Friday, 20th of September.

The Erasmus+ project WOODCircle, which started in October 2022, it’s now on its final stage. The Final Event was held on Friday, 20th of September. It provided an opportunity to present and discuss the results achieved by the project, as well as to debate the importance of enhancing the transition from a linear to a circular economy model in the Wood and Furniture sector.

It was held online between 10:30 and 12:00, in order to ensure the possibility of participation for all the interested parties (more than 100 people registered for the event!).

The event, organised with the utmost attention to details by the IPRA-MEDEF team in cooperation with the entire consortium composed of AMBIT, ATU, COSMOB, FLA and FABUNIO, was attended by Roman Vial, PhD in Management Sciences, specialised in the integration of the ecosystems in management of performance and head of the research team at the research and innovation centre CIRIDD (Centre international de ressources et d’innovation pour un développement durable) located in Saint-Étienne, whose mission is to create and spread knowledge, tools and methodologies to support business and innovation. Through the cooperation with enterprises, local authorities, networks and research centres, CIRIDD promotes new models for society, respectful of living beings and their differences, for the benefit of the planet and future generations.

Vial’s interesting and engaging talk focused on the importance of forests both as pivotal element in the balance of ecosystems and as bearers of cultural and spiritual values. Wood is a fundamental resource for the development of mankind, and even if it can be considered a renewable energy, it is crucial to use it consciously and responsibly. Subsequently, the importance of the circular transition in the Wood and Furniture sector was discussed and some good practices consisting in sustainable business models were illustrated.

Afterwards, the WOODCircle project was presented along with its partnership, aims, target, methodologies and achieved results, with an emphasis on the success of the Mobility phase.

In conclusion, participants had the opportunity of interacting with partners and to win the “WOODCircle” t-shirt by answering to the questions of the final quiz.

As the project is coming to an end, what will remain will be the online platform and its open access contents capable of enhancing the circular transition within the Wood and Furniture sector, as well as the skills acquired by students involved in the project both in the Pilot and in the Mobility phases.

While another project is finishing, the experience gained by the partners, also thanks to the previous WOODigital, allowed the consolidation of a partnership that has proven to be solid, structured and fruitful in both professional and personal terms, and which, it is hoped, will give rise to new projects with the aim of triggering innovative processes capable of equipping the Wood and Furniture sector, and its operators in particular, with knowledge and tools to respond effectively to the challenges of the contemporary times.
